Thoughtful Thursday

“The poet doesn’t invent. He listens.”
-Jean Cocteau (poet, filmmaker)

Poem Ending With Three Lines From “Home on the Range”
by Frank Bidart

Barred from the pool twenty three years ago, still I dove
straight in. You loved to swim, but saw no water.

Whenever Ray Charles sings “I Can’t stop loving you”

I can’t stop loving you. Whenever the unstained-by-guilt
cheerful chorus belts out the title, as his voice, sweet

and haggard reminder of what can never be remedied,

answers, correcting the children with “It’s useless to say,”
the irreparable enters me again, again me it twists.

The red man was pressed from this part of the West-

’tis unlikely he’ll ever return to the banks of Red River, where
seldom, if ever, their flickering campfires burn.

The little things

Sometimes, you just need a few little things to go right
in your life to make your day great
and make you feel good again.

:)

Today, we did some fun experimenting with pinhole and paper negatives in my Lec/Lab 2 class. I think I love this class.
And I am in love with pinhole/paper negative.
I plan to check out some of the cameras from school Thursday and do some, so you will see some next week hopefully :)
For now here are a few from other photographers.

a 4×5 pinhole camera, so pretty!

(Anke Bohmer)

(Aprendiz Bruxo)

I wrote a poem!
It’s not the best and it’s for class but I think it’s decent enough!

Then I got in a cleaning mood! When my space gets to be too messy I get very much in the mood to clean and organize.
I finally figured out how to organize my paper and not have to buy anything!
So excited

I’m also working on a project, not sure if I’ll continue it but…
Photobucket
(pictures by ME!)
This has been sitting in my room for about 6 days, looks yummy huh?
(pictures aren’t final, just quickly edited/processed them to show on here)

And last but not least…
I made a sale today on etsy!!!
Only my second sale ever, I was very excited :)
If you haven’t seen it yet, check out my newest listing of some new photos

Remember, the little things in life are what make the difference,
something as simple as waking up on time (I never do),
having a great cup of coffee,
organizing your art supplies…
can make your whole better
only if you let it.
:)

Thoughtful Thursday

This week I really wanted to share a poem by May Swenson, unfortunately the core of the poem rests in the visual and the way Swenson moves lines around and I cannot post the poem here on WordPress in the correct format.
So.
Here’s a link to the poem: The Universe by May Swenson

This is one of my favorite poems, I love the way Swenson plays with the visuals of a poem and lines up similar/the same words throughout the piece and how she is playing with different meanings/connotations of words.

So I will also share a few quotes.

“Literature and butterflies are the two sweetest passions known to man.”
“The pages are still blank, but there is a miraculous feeling of the words being there, written in invisible ink and clamoring to become visible.”
“A work of art has no importance whatever to society. It is only important to the individual.”

All three quotes are from Vladimir Nabokov, one of my favorite writers of all time.

Envy and Lust

I currently hate looking at my own cameras.

However, I am secretly lusting over the beautiful-ness of medium format (I’m getting tired of 35mm, I need a change!) and over some camera collections.
